Hello lovelies! I hope that everyone had a wonderful fourth of July weekend. I had such a wonderful time with family and friends. I also chose to forgo my phone for the entire weekend, and it felt amazing! Texts, emails, and even wedding planning can wait. Sometimes you need a weekend of fun, relaxation, and no stress at all.
I decided to do a short, but sweet outfit of the day post from this past weekend. I loved that it was super comfortable and easy to put together.
Tank top: Old Navy
High Waisted Shorts: Target
Shoes: Charming Charlie
Necklace (hard to see): Kate Spade
Until next time,
With the summer months in full swing, I am feeling so ready for my honeymoon! It will be so exciting to celebrate and relax with my husband after these last few stressful months of balancing work, wedding planning, and everything else. I thought that I would put together my top tips for packing for your honeymoon, and fitting most of your belongings into a carry-on suitcase. I hope this helps all of you soon-to-be brides, and even those that are going on a vacation this summer!
1. Pack your lightest items first, such as pajamas, light tank tops, undergarments, and swimming suits. I usually half fold them to fix nicely at the bottom.
2. Next, roll all of your more bulky clothing items. This will make your clothes take up less space, and it will be easy to reach. More available space means you can pack more clothes, and we all want to pack more clothes.
3. Next layer your clothing items that can’t easily be rolled without taking up too much space. Whether it be a dress or structured skirt, fold it in half to lay on top of the rolled clothing items.
4. Use the upper compartment for your shoes. I find this the most helpful when trying to pack. Try to bring versatile shoes that match most of the outfits that you have packed.
5. Be sure to put your toiletry bag on the very top alongside your clear airline approved bag for your liquids. This definitely helps when going through security.
Even though these aren’t all of the exact items that I will be bringing, you can get a general idea of how to pack your honeymoon suitcase effectively. I haven’t done much shopping at all for my honeymoon, so I need to start soon! Let me know where you’ve found cute clothes/bathing suits for your honeymoon or upcoming vacation!
Until next time,
June has certainly been one of the craziest months so far this year! Every single weekend has been jammed packed with appointments, weddings, and so much more. It was honestly difficult to pick my favorites this month, but I feel like I was able to choose some items that I have enjoyed.
Ray Bans: With all my weekend traveling and running around, my Ray Bans haven’t let me down! I love wearing them whenever I’m running errands, or driving somewhere for the weekend. These were a gift from my soon to be mother-in-law, and I’ve definitely worn them every day since I’ve gotten them.
Urban Decay Lipgloss: This has been my go-to lip product for the past month. I haven’t really been wearing dramatic lip colors, so this shade “Walk of Shame” has been my absolute favorite. It is honestly the most natural looking lipgloss I have ever used.
OPI Nailpolish: The shade ‘hands off my kielbasa’ has been my jam lately. This is the perfect polish for summertime, and I love the faint gold shimmer that it has.
Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Foundation: I am a huge fan of Tarte’s products, and this foundation takes the cake! It’s natural enough for everyday wear but still gives the coverage that my face needs. I am sadly almost out of this foundation, and may have to get a replacement soon.
“The Wedding” By Nicholas Sparks: I am a person that just loves to read love stories, and we all know that Nicholas writes the best ones out there. I’ve read this book three times now, and I cry every single time.
Burberry Touch: I wear this scent every time I’m heading out the door in a hurry. It’s definitely a warm scent, and I love how you can still smell it hours later.
I’m currently working on some fun fashion related posts that will be coming your way next week! If you want me to do a wedding related post, please leave me some suggestions!
It’s review time! I have really been putting off reviewing this palette due to the fact that I didn’t use it very much right after I purchased it. I have finally gotten around to using all of the shades and forming my official opinion. If you are considering purchasing this palette in the nearer future, I hope that you find this helpful.
Palette Info: The Tartelette palette includes 12 all matte eyeshadows. They range from light highlight shades, all the way to a dark gray and black.
Initial Reaction: The first time I used this to do my makeup, I wasn’t too impressed. I expected the shades to be a lot easier to blend out than they were. I had a hard time getting the shadows to look fully blended and seamless. However, I did want to continue to use this product to form my opinion
Finial Reaction: After giving this palette some good use I have gotten used to the fact that when using this, it may take me a little longer to achieve the look that I am going for. Using my Sigma brushes compared to using other brushes in my collection definitely speeds up my time blending with this product. Some shades I have found easier to use than others. Overall, my opinion has definitely improved. I have found other eyeshadows in my collection that I like to pair with this look. Like my last tutorial, I like to use certain shades from the Tartelette palette to blend and deepen the crease, then apply a more shimmery shade to the center. I also absolutely love using the deep purples and light pinks in the palette to create an all matte smoky look.
Pros: The shades are gorgeous, good for everyday use, can achieve a natural or smoky look using just this product, great for all-matte eye shadow lovers
Cons: Some shades can be difficult to blend, and a little bit pricey
Would I recommend others to purchase: Yes, if you don’t already have a good assortment of matte eyeshadows in your collection or haven’t found a favorite palette for everyday use.
Until next time,
Happy Sunday! I’m working hard to accomplish everything on my to-do list today, and it’s a great feeling. I did this make up look a week ago, and just fell in love with it. I love how the gold shimmer makes this look more summer appropriate. I used deep brown tones it smoke it out, to make this look a little less harsh! I used some great products to achieve this look and I can’t wait to share it with you.
1. First things first, I primed my lids with my Sonia Kashuk Concealer Quad. I used a flat brush to really blend in the product.
2. Next I used Tarte’s Tartelette Palette. I started out with the shade ‘force of nature’ to create some depth in my crease. I used Sigma’s E40 Brush to apply the product. I used the shade ‘Wanderer’ and followed up with ‘Power Player’ to define the crease area more precisely. I used Sigma’s E25 Brush to achieve this.
3. Next, I used Urban Decay’s ‘Easy Baked’ all over my lid area. I used Mac Cosmetic’s Fix + to make the shadow apply evenly, and more pigmented.
4. To really add the drama to this look, I used my Tartelette Palette and applied ‘Dreamer” to the outer v. I blended this out with my E40 brush, and added ‘Multi-Tasker’ to add the final touches.
5. I applied my winged liner using E.L.F. Liquid Liner. I applied 2 coats of Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara and some Mac Cosmetics false lashes. I love using Duo Lash Adhesive because it works wonderfully, and is super inexpensive.
I hope ya’ll loved this look! It’s so pretty and summer appropriate. I am in the works of doing a review of my Tartelette Palette, so that will be coming up soon! In the meantime, make sure you connect with me on Instagram and Pinterest. My username for both is Becomingashleyj
Until next time,
I’m so excited for the month of June! It will certainly be a crazy busy month, I have two of my bridal showers, two weddings, a handful of vendor meetings and a ton of things on my to do list. Since May has already come and gone, I thought it would be a great time to share my favorites from the past month.
Bride T-shirt |Etsy| I am so in love with this shirt! I actually received this as a gift, and am so excited to wear it to my first bridal shower this Saturday. I know she purchased it on etsy, but I’m not sure what the name of the shop is.
Joico K-Pack Deep-penetrating Reconstructor |Ulta| I have had this hair mask for probably six months. I just really started using it during the month of May, and loved how strong and healthy it has made my hair look and feel. I know this is in the sample size, so I would definitely recommend trying it!
Kate Spade ‘Twirl’ Perfume |Macy’s| Everything about this scent is amazing. My mom had purchased it a while back, and actually didn’t like it, so she gave it to me. It smells very floral with a hint of fruit! Definitely try to find it to see what I mean.
MAC Cosmetics Lip Pencil ‘Soar’ |MAC| Anytime I wore lipstick during the month of May, I used this lip liner. I love that this shade looks good underneath lipstick or even on it’s own.
Benefit Hoola Bronzer |Ulta| This is a product that I use daily. I haven’t been able to find anything like it from the drugstore, and is definitely a product that I will find necessary to repurchase. It looks great on any skin tone and blends out beautifully.
NYX HD Concealers in shades CW06 + CW07 |Ulta| At the time that I had purchased this concealer, I couldn’t find my perfect shade, so I purchased two different shades to mix. This is wonderful for covering up blemishes, and I even like it better than my MAC mineralize concealer. I haven’t found a concealer that I like better, and for the price, you can’t really beat it.
Until next time,
Happy Friday! Today’s post is all about accessories. I’m going to talk about how they can really change the dynamics of any outfit. If done the right way, it could make the most boring outfit look beautifully styled. These outfits reflect my personal style, but the advice I give could really apply to anyone.
My first outfit is something that I would usually wear if I’m getting ready and I’m not sure what look to go for. I chose to dress up the jeans and tank with a pair of wedges, a long necklace, and a bracelet. I opted for wedges instead of flats to try to make my legs appear longer since the jeans were tight fitting. I feel that the bracelet and necklace gave this outfit an intricate look instead of looking plain. My tip is to stick with 2-3 accessories to avoid looking like you are wearing too many. Long necklaces always look best with a flowy tank top or shirt.
This is next outfit is so much fun to wear during the spring and summer months. I chose to make pink a focal point of this outfit, and planned my accessories accordingly. My tip is that when trying to make a certain color stand out, choose neutrals or hints of similar shades to highlight it. This makes your outfit feel less matchy-matchy and more well coordinated. I chose to complete this look with a brown belt, coordinating sandals, a scarf and coral earrings (shown at top of post).
I hope that this gives you some advice for how to dress up your outfits with little to no effort. Accessories really are fun and when you learn a couple of tips and tricks it makes it way more easier than what it seems!
